Twilight: Los Angeles demonstrates the roots of racism. As you consider the actions that took place during the riots, take a look for ways that your community institutions and society may perpetuate the problem. Consider whether all neighborhoods are served equally. Schools: Which neighborhoods have well-equipped schools? What are ways to improve this situation?
As much as i would like that there are no discriminaton, or that every neighborhoods and society are equal, they really not. not every neighborhoods are served equally because one may have more money than others. one neighborhoods may have a better education system than another.i think society, the people that lives in the neighborhood takes parts for the blame. i think we need to come together to change the school. police, work system for the better.
ReplyDeleteI think the best cure for ignorane like racsim is Knowledge and awareness. If nieghborhoods created programs that alerted the public of this acts and somehow inform the public of the stupidty of such acts maybe thing like this wouldn't happen. We all need to become aware that rascim is foolish and that we shouldnt judge anyone by their skin but by the contents of their character

I think there is discrimination still involved but not as much as it used to. There are neighbourhoods in which there is a whole lot of people with similar cultures invovled. Racism is ridiculous and people should not be judged by the color of their skin. Rich neighbourhoods have the best education systems. I think we should be diverse in our cultures and we should regard people as our brothers and sisters and not judge them by their looks.
ReplyDeleteWhere ive been, things aren't the same as where i am now. This is due to discrimination agaisnt minorities and preferred interest towards majorities. There is always a line of division socially. Communities are split up but all kinds of cities boundaries and county lines. I think that this effects the community of the minorities, if they dont have anything good to utalize they'll take advantage of the bad.

As much as I would like to think that racisim has come to past, we all know that it hasn't. Communities like coral springs, plantation and parkland always have the best schools, family parks, stores, and security systems! Whereas communities like lauderhill(deep side), sistrunk, and manors has the worst schools, the most unsafe parks and lack of any type of security. It's sad that our communities are divided like this but it is. I believe to solve this problem the government should try to distribute the same amount of funds and supplies to ALL communities, not just because of the color of the skin but because it's just the right thing to do. I also feel that we should have more people out there in these communities educating us on how ignorant racisim is. There is more to a person than the color of their skin! -Latoya
ReplyDeleteIn my eyes no,not all is served equally. Then again its up to the community to work with the city officials to reach that goal. When you allow one to dictate or a group to thats all on the community. In todays society the can'tpuul that shit, simple because in most neighborhoods you jus can't pull that. Not all are well equiped but they can all do something bout it. A community is the reflection of the people. Now adays its not easy to find an area were is constantly being targeted by police brutality.
ReplyDeleteRacism has been around for centuries upon centuries and honesty we cannot eliminate it completely as long as we have different races present on the face of the Earth. However, we can put effort and try as individuals to change how we think and act towards other race from our own, and teach this to our generation to come and just hope that they can continue this spread of love and unity.
ReplyDeleteThen there are the fact about the difference in how the government distributes money into the community and schools. We all are aware that the government does not put alot of money into the schools located near/in the ghetto due to the fact that they believe it may not be maintained due to the excess violence in the black or Hispanic neighborhoods. But if the government don't give them a chance how will they know if it can work or not. Its prejudice and also racist. How about you see them as people and not with an adjective describing what they believe "these people" are. They aren't just ghetto, hood or lower class but human being trying to survive with high taxes, high gas prices, homes that have become a burden to maintain and human beings trying to survive in a world of racism. So give them some slack, go more to " the hood" and find out the root of the problem before you try to let it seem like we are the problem or a threat just because of the color of my skin. I thank God that Barack Obama is the U.S president, he is a product of a mixture of the black community as well as the white. He may be just the start of eliminating racism. Yes we can!!!

After all the stories that I've heard and personally experienced, I can legimately conclude that there will never really be equality. yes we can improve it, but there will always be an idiot that cleave to their ignorance.

Even though the law says there is no discrimnation and that its against the law. There is still pretty much the ignorance of discrimination in shools and neighborhoods. Because as long as there's a separation between low middle and upper class there will always be a case of separation based upon your finacial status or ethnicity.
